This book is designed to proffer advice and ‘Top Tips’ about moving to and living in Greece. Chapter by chapter, it introduces you to everything the Author learned (usually the hard way!). When he and his wife moved to live permanently in a rural area of Greece, they had done their research, but they still had plenty more to learn for themselves and they also learned things from others. The objective is to give you as much advice, information and practical tips in order to make your move to Greece and your life living there easier.
Many people long to live in another country other than their birth country. For those from Northern Europe and the United Kingdom (UK) in particular, it is usually because they long for the sun!
Despite recent financial difficulties focused on the Greek economy, an increasing number of people are looking to move to Greece. Greece has a powerful ‘magnetism’. In the main, the ‘attraction and the draw’ is the climate, the food, the culture, the history of the country, and its people! Outside of City Life, most rural areas of Greece provide a new lease of life for living; open space, empty roads, mountain regions, coastal regions, a myriad of islands, agriculture, and fresh, clean air.
One such individual that succumbed to this ‘magnetism’ is Stuart Allan. In 2006, along with his wife Valerie, he decided to move to live in a small fishing village in The Mani region which is on the Peloponnese Peninsula, South Western mainland Greece. They decided to leave the UK forever in a move ‘Lock, Stock and Barrel’; no returning.
After making the move, Stuart found out that holidaying in Greece is very different from living there permanently!
Over the six years that they have lived in Greece, they have learned a lot that hitherto they did not know. Most of the learning has been about how to overcome problems; unexpected problems, and problems that have cost money to resolve. Had they had the advance knowledge of what to expect then maybe they could have planned to do some things differently, and certainly saved themselves a lot of money in the process.
The book is a summary of the things that they have learned; Over 100 ‘Top Tips’ and 20 ‘BIG Tips’ which they hope will help you not only save money but help you enjoy your ‘living’ more. Forewarned is forearmed!
The book is written from a UK perspective because that is where the Author and his wife moved from as they headed to live in Greece. However, it will hold true for anybody moving to live in Greece. The differences will be reference to legal documents from their country of origin (Passports, Birth Certificates and Pensions etc.) the quality and the cost of household items and electrical goods. Also, the regulations relating to travel for pets may be different too.
The ‘Top Tips’ will also prove very useful if you are contemplating buying a property in Greece for use as a holiday home. Virtually all of the ‘legal and taxation’ regulations apply to both permanent and holiday ownership status.
All of the ‘Top Tips’ focus on the practical aspects of making a decision to buy a property and live in Greece. Laws and regulations change frequently, but the day to day ‘happenings’ and ‘obstacles’ are constant.
If you make the decision to change the way you live, like the Author and his wife, you have to be brave, but living in Greece is very rewarding and worth the effort.

Lots of repetition, some sentences or even entire paragraphs are repeated, believe it or not, 4+ times. Common sense advice available for free for any decent researcher. Not worth the money.
